The First Steps Coordinator is instrumental in promoting mental health, suicide awareness, and alcohol and other drug education on-campus, with a goal of reducing stigma associated with all of them. The First Steps Coordinator provides workshops, trainings, and counseling services to assist students understanding of and management of mental health concerns, to help promote student’s success on campus. The First Steps Coordinator collaborates with partners on and off-campus to enhance services provided to students. This position works closely with the Director of Counseling on maintaining First Steps grant-related requirements.
Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or closely related field. Minimum of two years of clinical experience, preferable with college students. Knowledge of mental health and substance abuse issues facing many college students. Demonstrated professional prevention and support experience with substance abuse. Minimum of one year experience developing, implementing, and facilitating trainings and workshops targeted to contemporary college students. Knowledge of Title IX and Campus SAVE Act a plus.
