Should I take the NCE and NCMCHE right after graduate school? I’m having trouble finding out how long the NCHMCE scores are good for. I graduate 12/1, and would like to knock out the tests as soon as possible. What do y’all recommend?

I took my NCE while in grad school as a part off my program, and then took the NCMHCE within a year or two of graduating. I do recommend getting it done sooner than later because things you learned in grad school will still be in your head when taking the tests. The NCMHCE is a bit different, so I also recommend using the study guide that nbcc developed for it.
I agree. The NCE should be taken immediately. However, it pays to get a year to a year and a half of experience in counseling before you try to tackle the NCMHCE. It’s based on treatment planning, diagnosing, counseling
G models, and executive decision making in counseling. It is not a test to try to “knock out“ easily. I would also recommend one of several 30 day study guides and computer-based testing options for studying for the NCMHCE.
