Middle School is often seen as a rite of passage. Possessing the tools and skills to maneuver that rite of passage is critical to healthy social and academic progress. Research indicates that middle school students often struggle to find their social place, as well as emotional support during this journey. Many middle school students experience hurt, self-doubt, loneliness and sometime anxiety and depression. The experience of these things can negatively impact a student’s academics. To say the least, middle school can be a challenge and some of these challenges can develop into concerns that will last even to adulthood. Having the tools, skills, and resources to maneuver these concerns can not only boost a child’s self-esteem, but it can also boost their self-efficacy. Both are essential for healthy growth and development throughout life.
Ellie Mental Health Brentwood is offering a Middle School Master Class. A 2 week-group program to assist your child on getting the soft skills they need to excel in Middle School. Both licensed therapists and a trained life coach will facilitate these two groups. In this two-week group program, your middle schooler will have a safe and open space, amongst peers, to ask questions, test their voice and proactively deal with their “middle school” fears. Your middle schooler will also learn how to:
· Deal with Bullying Behavior
· Managing New Social Settings/Peer Pressure
· Avoid Social Media Pitfalls
· Time Manage for Multiple Classes
· “Fit In” Without Compromise
