Directions
This training explores the identification of cognitive and developmental delays and symptoms of other mental health disorders commonly observed in this population. We will also learn how to identify co-occurring mental health diagnoses, strategies for engaging clients within this population in the therapeutic process, and utilization of resources for successful progress toward goals.
Objectives:

To be able to identify clients who have cognitive and developmental delays.

To recognize co-occurring diagnoses and symptoms commonly present in clients with delays.

About the Speaker(s)
Christy “Renee” Crick, LMFT
Christy “Renee” Crick is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist working as the Children and Youth Services Coordinator for Bristol Regional Counseling Center, a division of Frontier Health. Renee has been providing mental health and behavioral health services in some capacity for the past 16 years, 11 of which have been in the role of a therapist. She received a Bachelor of Social Sciences and Master of Arts in Counseling from East Tennessee State University after which she assisted in establishing mental health services in underserved, rural areas of Southeast Tennessee. Throughout her career, Renee has presented on such topics as Classroom Behavior Management, Understanding and Engaging Students with ADHD, and Engaging Youth with Cognitive and Developmental Delays in the Therapeutic Process.
