The Family Counselor is responsible for counseling clients and/or families with alcohol and drug dependency. The counselor will plan, develop, coordinate and facilitate the Family Program for the adult program to educate clients and family members about chemical dependency, relationship issues, and family systems. The counselor is a part of a multidisciplinary team of healthcare workers; performs both individual and group counseling; participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities; assesses clients, develops individual treatment plans, coordinates the client’s treatment through the Treatment Team process; and maintains client record accurately and in a timely manner. This position will also be responsible to assist other counselors with current caseloads.
Basic Requirements
Masters Degree in counseling or other related discipline. Current licensure (preferred). Have experience counseling clients and families, with a proven ability in group facilitation, managing family dynamics, know crisis prevention and de-escalation skills, and be skilled in time management and organization.
Ability to effectively understand and communicate, both written and orally.
Excellent with documentation and presentation skills.
Additional language knowledge is preferred.
Effective computer knowledge and skills, especially in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, & Power Point).
