Abundant Hope Therapy is pleased to offer: Wired for Survival: Trauma, Addiction, and the Path to Healing
Substance use is often less about pleasure and more about survival. In this training, we explore the deep connection between trauma and addiction—including neurodevelopmental and nervous system responses that drive maladaptive coping. Participants will learn trauma-informed care strategies for supporting individuals with co-occurring trauma and substance use, explore ethical considerations unique to this population, and engage in experiential interventions that support regulation, safety, and healing.
Learning Objectives:
– Describe the developmental and neurobiological connections between trauma and addiction
– Apply Trauma-informed Care principles to treatment planning with this population
– Navigate key ethical challenges in treating trauma and addiction
– Create actionable strategies to maintain ethical integrity
– Integrate experiential and somatic intervention and support safety, regulation, and recovery into their therapeutic work with this population
