In this workshop, we will discuss warning signs of suicide and crisis intervention strategies. Participants will learn about the mobile crisis services in Tennessee and how to use them to help keep their clients safe. Topics that will be addressed will be screening and assessing clients who are experiencing suicidal ideations and the services offered by mobile crisis.
Objectives:
- Identify warning signs of suicide.
- Describe strategies for crisis intervention.
- Understand the role of Tennessee’s Mobile Crisis services and how to access them to support client safety.
About the Speaker(s)
Charles Miller, LPC-MHSP
Charles Miller is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Mandatory Prescreening Agent for the state of Tennessee. He is currently a senior crisis director and oversees the operation of a mobile crisis team and a crisis stabilization unit in Cookeville, TN with Volunteer Behavioral Health. He also oversees the Mandatory Prescreening Agents affiliated with crisis as well as the Crisis Clinical Review Team. He has 10 years of experience in the crisis continuum. He graduated from Tennessee Tech with a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology and Mental Health Counseling.
