Nashville Rescue Mission is actively seeking a Director of Therapy and Life Coaching to join our team. The Director develops, oversees, and maintains the Therapy/Coaching ministry of the Life Recovery Programs of Nashville Rescue Mission with a sound biblical and theological perspective and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. Helping hurting people is an essential element of the Gospel, and Nashville Rescue Mission’s Therapy/Coaching programs serve to help guests and program participants realize wholeness in every area of life.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
– Develops and maintains Nashville Rescue Mission’s Therapy/Coaching ministry that is committed to helping people by applying the best therapeutic insights and practices within the framework of the transforming power of the Christian faith.
– Proactively places a biblical worldview at the center of all therapy and coaching sessions as the framework by which all problems, crises, and goals are filtered through.
– Trains, motivates, and leads counseling and coaching staff members in a Christlike and professional manner.
– Oversees malpractice insurance requirements for all therapists; maintains personal malpractice insurance.
– Schedules counseling and coaching staff, assigning specific participants according to staff ability and temperament.
– Assists with clinical intern and post-master’s supervision.
– Assures that an Individual Healing Plan document exists between the Therapists and Life Coaches for each participant and is consistently monitored and updated.
– Effectively utilizes trauma counseling (i.e., EMDR, IFS, DBT, CBT, etc.) with core competencies in addiction-based therapy.
– Collaborates with Directors and Therapy/Coaching teams to assure consistent and fair disciplinary practice for program participants.
– Teaches in core curriculum and chapels as needed.
– Conducts one-on-one counseling and group counseling regularly and as needed.
– Participates in special events, activities, and meetings including staff meetings, trainings, and assigned committees as required by Vice President, Ministries.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
– Master’s degree in counseling, marriage and family therapy, or clinical social work and a minimum of 5 years of pertinent professional experience in counseling (other degrees in the mental health field may be considered on an individual basis).
– Valid state licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or equivalent credential in the state of Tennessee.
– Five (5) plus years of leadership experience, exhibiting clear leadership skills and leading in a team environment.
– Proficient in trauma counseling (i.e., EMDR, IFS, DBT, CBT, etc.) with core competencies in addiction-based therapy.
– Maintains personal malpractice insurance.
– Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to problem solve by gathering and analyzing information, working well in an individual/group problem solving situation, and showing initiative in problem solving.
– Maintains professionalism and does not show favoritism. Maintains consistency with clients, staff, visitors, and the public.
– Sound clinical judgement and excellent clinical skills.
– Ability to handle a crisis situation and react appropriately; flexible and adaptable; able to make decisions in an objective and ethical manner.
– Calm and decisive in crisis situations.
– Ability to sustain a team environment.
– Actively participates in scheduled daytrip activities, special events, activities, staff meetings, trainings, and assigned committees, including some weekends and holidays as required by Vice President, Ministries.
– Ability to qualify as a designated Mission vehicle driver under NRM insurance policy:
– Valid driver’s license
-Have no more than two moving violations in a 3-year period or more than one accident in a 1-year period
– Proof of insurance on personal vehicle (current)
Physical Factors:
Requires an above average amount of walking, standing, and stair climbing.
Daily includes reading, research, typing/computer usage, public speaking.
Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
Regularly transport students in 15-passenger van.
