Both the US DOT and HUD have changed guidance and regulations in the past year regarding the use of emotional support animals and the documentation needed. This presentation will cover the basics of emotional support animal documentation preparation, including ethical/legal concerns, and address these important updates. Participants will walk away with a better understanding of whether ESA documentation should be a part of their services to clients and how to provide it.
Objectives:
- Following this presentation, participants will be able to explain what an emotional support animal is and how to request one for housing and air travel according to the related laws, regulations, and guidance.
- As part of this presentation, participants will review sample ESA documentation to determine how to create their own documentation for clients.
- Following this presentation, participants will be able to determine whether ESA documentation should be a part of their practice and how to properly engage in providing documentation.

Gregory Bohner, PhD, LPC-MHSP, CCMHC, NCC
Speaker Bio
Dr. Bohner currently serves as Director of Disability Services at Union University and works part-time in private practice at Forward Counseling. He is an LPC/MHSP in Tennessee with CCMHC and NCC credentials from NBCC. He specializes in working with college students and those in the disability community.
