Directions
The Tennessee Board for Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Marital and Family Therapists, and Licensed Clinical Pastoral Therapists requires 12 hours of training for the LPC-MHSP supervisor designation. This training will cover the foundational elements of becoming a counselor supervisor. The training will be divided into two days of information. Day one will cover the supervisor role, supervision models, and laws and ethics. Day two will cover methods and interventions, supervision contract components, the supervisory working alliance, and technology. Attendees may choose to attend one day only.
Objectives:
- Describe the supervisor role
- Describe important factors in the supervisory working alliance
- Identify and explain various supervision models
- List the components of a supervision contract
- Apply legal and ethical concepts to the supervisory relationship
- List implementation of technology in supervision
About the Speakers
Dr. Jonathon Roy, PhD, LPC/MHSP
Dr. Roy received his Ph.D. from Trevecca Nazarene University in Clinical Counseling, Teaching, and Supervision. He is currently working as the Assistant Director for the Trevecca Counseling Center and has worked in a variety of areas within the mental health field, such as community mental health, crisis assessment with teens, inpatient care, private and group practice locations. He has been licensed as an LPC/MHSP since Feb 2020.
April Lamoreaux, LPCC-S (Ohio)
April L. Lamoreaux graduated from Cincinnati Christian University with a Bachelor of Science in Bible and Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counseling. April has worked in the mental health field for the past thirteen years training counselors as an adjunct professor, supervisor, clinical director and consultant. April is currently the Practicum and Internship Coordinator for Trevecca Nazarene University’s Graduate Counseling program where she is also pursuing a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. She is the Public Policy Co-chair for TLPCA and a member of Chi Sigma Iota and the American Counseling Association.
Mikaila Robinson, LPC/MHSP, NCC
Mikaila Robinson graduated from Fisk University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and is a Lipscomb University graduate with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an Addictions Specialization. Mikaila has worked in the mental health field providing counseling services for adults in the residential rehabilitation setting and with children and teens within group private practice. Currently working as a counselor within the Tennessee State University Counseling Center, Mikaila provides services to college aged clients while also providing supervision for practicum and internship students. Mikaila attends Trevecca Nazarene University where she is in pursuit of a PhD in Clinical Counseling: Teaching & Supervision and works as an adjunct faculty member within the master’s counseling program at Middle Tennessee State University.
William Feck, LPC/MHSP, NCC, CSAT
William Feck graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with an Education Specialist Degree in Professional Counseling. He served as a professional school counselor for five years. He now is a full-time lecturer at MTSU providing supervision for practicum and school counseling internship students. Concurrently, he is a primary therapist at Integrative Life Center. William is in the doctoral program at Trevecca Nazarene University for clinical counseling, teaching, and supervision. He completed his doctoral internships with the American Association of State Counseling Boards (AASCB) and conducted research regarding counseling rules/regulation and counseling supervisor qualifications. This year he is serving as the President Elect for Tennessee Licensed Professional Counselors Association (TLPCA).
