Directions
This workshop will address the fundamentals of providing clinical supervision. Discussion will include, but is not limited to: providing quality supervision for supervisees in different stages of clinical development, ethical and legal matters, specific supervision interventions, multicultural matters, etc.
Objectives:
- To learn to work effectively with counselors in training and/or practicing counselors
- To become familiar with various theories and models of counseling supervision
- To examine specific supervision interventions
- To develop a personalized approach to providing counseling supervision
- To become knowledgeable in various legal and ethical issues as they relate to counseling supervision
- To prepare to practically apply legal and ethical responsibilities as they relate to counseling supervision
- To understand the impact of multicultural issues that impact the supervisor I supervisee relationship
- To explore various issues such as counselor development and supervisee resistance, related to counseling supervision
- To teach supervisee a framework for understanding of differences in situational and generational poverty, middle class and wealth
- To assist supervisee in treatment of their resistant, unmotivated, un-insightful, personality disordered and blame shifting clients
