This presentation will focus on current research that suggests sexual identity can be effectively conceptualized as a multi-variable or multiple continua model. Understanding these variables can help clinicians to increase competency in working with LGBTQ+ clients, strengthen the therapeutic alliance, and aid in addressing and working through issues specific to this population.

  2. Following this presentation, participants will be able to understand the multiple continua model of sexual identity.
  3. Following this presentation, participants will be able to utilize concepts from the multiple continua model of sexual identity when working with LGBTQ+ clients.
