“Leadership & Influence: Understanding the Impact of Our Presence”

An experiential full-day workshop designed to help counselors and helping professionals understand leadership beyond title, authority, or formal management roles. Participants will explore how their presence, behavior, values, communication patterns, and relational influence shape the systems around them — from clients to colleagues, teams, organizations, and communities. Through reflection, small-group dialogue, applied systems thinking, and leadership philosophy development, participants will leave with a clear understanding of their own influence and a practical 30-60-90-day plan for leading with greater confidence, alignment, and systemic awareness.

Objectives:

This workshop addresses a critical professional development opportunity by helping counselors recognize the leadership responsibilities already embedded in their work — especially around burnout prevention, advocacy, ethical influence, psychological safety, organizational culture, and sustainable professional practice across industries. Learning objectives include:

• Identify how leadership shows up through presence, behavior, relational influence, and informal authority — beyond positional authority.
• Explain how leadership behaviors can contribute to or reduce burnout, psychological safety, advocacy barriers, and organizational misalignment in counseling and human-service environments.
• Apply a personal leadership philosophy and 30-60-90-day action plan to strengthen values, aligned behavior, professional influence, and systemic impact in their current role.
