The purpose of this presentation is for the presenter, who has 30+ years of therapy practice, to be open about therapeutic blunders from various stages of his practice and how therapeutic blunders even more than therapeutic successes can be the impetus for learning. Examples from actual practice will be shared in hopes that presentation participants will recognize the value of sharing failures as well as uccesses in therapeutic practice.

Objectives:

  • Following the presentation, participants will recognize the reality of therapeutic blunders as a significant learning tool in counselor development.
  • Following the presentation, participants will be more open to sharing not only therapeutic successes but therapeutic blunders with their colleagues as a part of counselor development.
  • Following the presentation, participants will understand that all therapists (novice, experienced and seniors) are constantly developing and growing and a part of this growth process is learning from therapeutic failures.

About the Speaker

Peter Wilson, Ed.D., LP-HSP

Speaker Bio

Peter Wilson, Ed.D. is a licensed psychologist that has dedicated his professional live to training professional counselors. For the past 26 years, Dr. Wilson has taught graduate students in the graduate counseling program at Trevecca Nazarene University. He is also a practicing therapist at the BabbCenter in Hendersonville, TN.
