Self-care is an ethical mandate of our profession, yet both practicing counselors and counselors in training report a continued need for education and guidance in creating a sustainable self-care practice. When experiencing grief and loss, self-care becomes necessary to both personal and professional health. Participants will engage in an interactive presentation exploring grief-specific self-care activities, internal and external grief stressors, and ethical standards. Participants will leave with reflection points to deepen self-care practices while grieving.

Objectives:

  • Understand the increased need for addressing self-care while grieving
  • Analyze their own internal and external stressors along with their coping resourcefulness
  • Assess grief-focused activities to complement participants’ existing self-care strategies
