This is an application-focused training regarding working with clients with trauma histories and disorders. We will focus on the operational definition of trauma, its manifestations, and ethical treatment. There will be a focus on understanding symptom presentation so that the correct skills or referral choices can be made.

Objectives:

  • Learn what trauma symptoms look like to accurately treatment plan
  • Understand why the symptoms exist to know what techniques to use and ethical considerations in treating trauma symptoms
  • Learn how to talk to your clients so this makes sense, and instills hope
  • Begin to gain integrative techniques to heal!

Meredith has been in private practice for over 10 years focusing particularly on working with adults with trauma individually as well as facilitating group therapy in an intensive outpatient setting. She has developed a 2-prong approach to individual therapy of increasing the client’s ability to be skillful (CBT, DBT) while also decreasing their need to be skillful by reducing symptomology (EMDR).
