This training will provide a general overview of the diagnostic characteristics of Autism Spectrum Disorder. It is necessary for clinicians who are working with neurodivergent individuals to remain educated and informed about working with this population. There will be opportunities for clinicians to ask questions and share their experiences in working with this population.
Objectives:
- Identify diagnostic criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Identify common communication characteristics of the Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Describe therapeutic modalities effective for working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
About the Speaker(s)
Alvin Bonds II, NCC, ACS, RPT-S, LMFT (TN), LPC/MHSP-AS (TN)
Alvin Bonds, II is dually licensed in Tennessee as a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Professional Counselor with Mental Health Service Provider designation (LPC/MHSP) with Approved Supervisor (AS) endorsement. Alvin currently owns a group private practice in Jackson, TN, where he provides clinical oversight to other clinicians, as well as individually seeing children, men, women, couples, and families with various presenting issues. Alvin is currently working on his Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Capella University. Alvin is committed to the advancement of counselor education and supervision and, through his practice, offers continuing education opportunities for mental health professionals, having earned Approved Provider status through the Association for Play Therapy (APT) and the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC).
