Please consider taking action on this bill which I think would be of interest to the TLPCA membership. The co-sponsors are Senator Ed Jackson (S-District 27) and Representative Bob Freeman (R-District 56 –Nashville). The bill has passed out of initial committees and forwarded to the Senate Judiciary Committee, Chairman Mike Bell (see link below) and the House Constitutional Protections & Sentencing Sub-committee, Chairman Micah VanHuss (see link below). I don’t know when the committees vote on the bill, but soon I think.

The bill amends the current law and seeks to prohibit convicted stalkers in Tennessee from having, possessing, and owning firearms, thereby closing a loophole in the existing law. See the attached Stalking Talking Points document for further details. The bill’s intent is to provide additional safeguards and protections for victims of domestic violence, partner abuse, and stalking.
