Overview
Learn about the interplay between OCD symptoms and relationship dynamics in this continuing education presentation.

Join Kelly Flanagan, LPC-MHSP, and Amy Mariaskin, PhD, for this synchronous, interactive virtual event on the identification and treatment of relationship OCD (ROCD). Although not as well known as other types of OCD symptoms, ROCD has garnered increased attention in the research and clinical communities over the past 10 years. This form of OCD, in which relationships are the object of one’s obsessions and compulsions, can cause considerable distress and impairment, often leading to difficulties with friendship, romantic relationships, sexual intimacy and more. Learn how to untangle ROCD behaviors from other clinical concerns and natural variability in relationship styles. And leave with tools to help your clients stop the unhelpful cycles that perpetuate symptoms. This presentation is intended for intermediate-level therapists, and affiliated professionals, who have some knowledge of OCD.

Learning objectives include:

1. Describe the clinical features of relationship OCD, including both relationship-focused and partner-focused subtypes

2. Distinguish between ROCD and trauma related disorders, personality disorders, and attachment differences

3. Explain how exposure and response prevention (ERP) can be used to treat ROCD
