As the mental health field becomes increasingly specialized, clinicians are faced with complex ethical questions around competence, boundaries, and referral. This interactive panel discussion will explore the ethical implications of specialized practice through real-world examples and expert insight. Participants will engage in thoughtful conversation about best practices, professional standards, and navigating gray areas in clinical work.
Objectives:
-
Identify key ethical principles relevant to the decision to engage in or refer for specialized mental health services.
-
Evaluate common ethical dilemmas that arise in specialized practice, including scope of competence, informed consent, and referral processes.
-
Apply professional ethical standards to real-world scenarios involving specialization through discussion and expert insight.
