Directions
In this training, we will begin by briefly looking at how the opioid crisis/overdose epidemic began and recent overdose statistics. Then a discussion on some of the science of addiction, stigma and harm reduction, before covering emerging drug trends such as fentanyl, xylazine, etc. A detailed discussion on both stimulant and opioid overdoses precedes learning how to reverse an opioid overdose and save a life, including how to use nasal Naloxone, such as Narcan and Kloxxado.
- To provide information and statistics about the Opioid Epidemic/Overdose Crisis.
- To provide information about emerging illicit drug trends such as Fentanyl, Xylazine, etc.
- To teach participants how to respond to an overdose, including how to utilize nasal Naloxone such as Narcan and Kloxxado.
About the Speaker(s)
David Fuller, ROPS, CPRS, ADC
David Fuller has worked in the field of substance abuse treatment and/or prevention for the last 14 plus years. Most of that time has been spent in outpatient substance abuse programs, including Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) programs, both here in Memphis, TN and his home state of Alabama. David has been in his current role as a Regional Overdose Prevention Specialist (ROPS) with the Memphis Area Prevention Coalition (MAPC) for almost 3 years.
