Play and playfulness has tremendous potential to positively impact children and adult’s mental health. However, cultural barriers make it difficult to play. This presentation will explore the importance of play for both children and adults. We will explore how to increase play in our therapy sessions, our communities, and ourselves.

Objectives:

  • Participants will identify barriers to play and playfulness in current culture.
  • Participants will identify how play contributes to child and adult mental health.
  • Participants will discuss how to integrate play and playfulness into therapeutic interactions.
